In the fortieth year of The Order, the Wulin Assembly convened on Cloud Terrace in Yecheng, and most of the Wulin sect leaders were killed. It became the event that marks the third great upheaval of the Wulin.
Background
Under Mu Tianmiao’s leadership The Order grew stronger by the year, and its internal contradictions sharpened with it: Zuo Shang’s hunger for power and Soul’s pursuit of freedom gradually became two opposing poles. In that same year the Wulin Assembly was set to convene on Cloud Terrace in Yecheng, with the heads of the great sects gathered in one place; and a carefully planned conspiracy was brewing in that city as well.
What Happened
During the assembly a brutal massacre took place, and most of the Wulin sect leaders were killed. What fell was not one sect but the voice of nearly the whole orthodox camp, which is why the truth of the massacre is so murky and why it became one of the greatest unsolved cases of the jianghu.
The Truth Behind It
The Yecheng Cloud Terrace Massacre is closely bound up with The Order’s internal war. After seizing power inside The Order, Zuo Shang planned the massacre to control the Wulin further: with the heads of the great sects dead the orthodox camp was leaderless, the resistance fell apart, and his rule was secure.
How It Relates to the Order’s Internal War
